Build Desk, providers of software design tools for engineers and architects, has acquired Carbon Checker from Southfacing Services.
As revealed in BSj (09/06) Carbon Checker was one off the first independent, government approved software packages that allowed designers to assess whether their designs complied with Part L2A of the Building Regulations. Using the SBEM engine, its interface allowed for quicker and easier data inputting.
Mark Thompson of Southfacing Services said: “We are pleased that Carbon Checker will now be able to be offered as part of a full suite of energy modelling tools through Build Desk. After devoting a considerable amount of time and effort to ensuring Carbon Checker is a useful and successful tool, we are confident that Build Desk have the experience to take it forward.”
The Carbon Checker software will partner Build Desk’s Energy Design, which incorporates SAP 2005 and allows users to calculate dwelling emission rate, target emission rate and SAP ratings for new dwellings according to Part L1A of the Building Regulations in England and Wales.
