The first school to be rebuilt under the government's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme has opened.

Bristol Brunel Academy, designed by engineer Buro Happold and architect Wilkinson Eyre, will cater for 1200 pupils aged 11 to 18. Its three-storey accommodation block, divided into two teaching areas, is arranged around a central atrium. The school has biomass boilers, a rainwater harvesting system and is largely naturally ventilated.
