Scheme will include affordable housing and commercial space

A mixed-use scheme in Enfield designed by Hawkins Brown is to go ahead after the local council selected Countryside Properties and Newlon Housing Trust to deliver it.

The project, which has planning permission, will be built on the 0.6ha Highmead development site in Angel and will include 120 new homes together with 1,092m2 of commercial space and a 140m2 community building.

Newlon Housing Trust will be developing and managing the affordable housing, which represents 38% of the total amount of housing included.

Countryside described the scheme as a high-quality “beacon” development which would act as a catalyst for further regeneration.

The old buildings on the site, which included an 11-storey 1960s tower block and a parade of shops, were demolished last year.
