Dignitaries attend entertainment centre opening timed to celebrate Kazakhstan president’s 70th birthday

The opening of Foster + Partners’s Khan Shatyr building in Astana, Kazakhstan, last night formed the focus of the nation’s celebration of its president’s 70th birthday.
The building, which houses a theme park including monorail, beach experience and dodgem rides, as well as a mall, was designed in collaboration with structural engineer Buro Happold.
