The £8.5m project in Daventry aims to attract 60 sustainable construction and technology firms

The timber frame of a £8.5m centre for sustainability has been completed in the East Midlands.

iCon in Daventry will provide accommodation for up to 60 companies specialising in sustainable construction and green technologies. The scheme will include an eco-advice centre run by Sustainable Construction iNet and Construction Futures.

The glulam frame of the curved 300-seat conference centre will be topped with a green roof and natural ventilation chimneys.

The building, which is scheduled for completion in summer 2011, is aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating.
