VCL used its stand at IFSEC to provide a graphic example of how its NVT twisted pair wiring technology could be used to drastically cut the circuitry and installation costs of CCTV systems while providing a superior service free of interference and crosstalk.

By using NVT technology throughout the stand, the company was able to show its commitment to the technology and demonstrate its efficiency at the same time.

The use of NVT twisted pair removed the need for 400 metres of bulky coax, 800 BNC connectors and 25 metres of Belden 129841, immediately saving £80, £760 and £15 respectively.

The technology also enabled huge labour savings. By losing the BNC plugs, each installation took just three minutes, saving a massive 40 hours of labour, as well as a further four hours that would have been required for marking and organising looms. The cost of labour saved at £25 per hour totalled £1,100.

Apart from cost savings, which could amount to around 25% off an entire CCTV installation, VCL staff also demonstrated other benefits to installers. The structured cabling allowed all services to be available throughout the stand with no potential for earth loops and the system being completely free from interference or cross-talk.

Further alterations to the system were also made easy with users able to 'patch in' to the system from anywhere on the stand.

VCL has been steadily improving its camera technology to provide beneficial spin-offs for installers and users. It recently added the plug-and-play 'NVT Inside' to its Orbiter Gold and Lite camera ranges. VCL also added ExView CCDs into its 18x colour/mono cameras as well as a multiple protocol facility to all the Gold models.
