Cablofil is aiming to build on its dominance in the UK steel wire mesh cable tray market by offering a broader supply of products following its recent rescue of R M Greenings from administration.
April will see Greenings absorbed into Cablofil UK and the two divisions housed under one roof at a new hq in Runcorn, Cheshire. The Greenings brand of perforated cable tray will complement Cablofil’s wire mesh offering.

“We are in a strong growth phase,” said Cablofil UK md Matthew Way, speaking of the wire mesh market. “Our business has grown 30% since last May as contractors are now embracing it.”

The Greenings product will be aimed at markets where more physical protection is required or where the client doesn’t want to see the cables. “We are aiming for high quality, well designed products with the relaunch of an established brand,” said Way.

Cablofil UK is part of the France-based ICM Group, formed from a management buyout of Metal Deploye-Krieg et Zivy from the Vallourec Group in October 2001.

ICM Group has a turnover of around 90 million euros, with 65 million euros coming from cable tray. The company aims to grow this to 120 million euros by 2007. In the UK, turnover is currently close to £4 million and Way expects this to be approaching £10 million by the end of 2006.

Way reports that prices are to rise by more than 10% in the light of recent hikes in the price of steel.
