Camden doesn't discriminate

Re: "Choice is discrimination" (2 April, page 8). Camden council wanted to be sure that its choice-based lettings scheme was accessible to all black and minority-ethnic communities, so the website and telephone service has been translated into all Camden's core community languages.

Independent research regarding the scheme's access for BME communities has been done by professor Tim Brown from the Centre of Comparative Housing Studies at De Montfort University. This confirmed our own findings that choice-based lettings are used by and accessible to BME communities.

We will continue to see how we can improve the range of options for people who don't get the council home they want.
