Four Canadian housing manufacturers are to start building demonstration homes in England and Scotland in partnership with UK homebuilders.
The Super-E House programme is an attempt by the Canadian housing industry to take advantage of the UK interest in timber frame and the government's desire for better built, energy efficient homes. "We've learnt the right and the wrong way to build healthy, durable and energy efficient homes. We can offer to shorten the learning curve," says Ken Classon, leader of specialised building projects at Natural Resources Canada. The four open-panel manufacturers involved, DAC International, Interhabs, MIC-Alouette and Rockett Homes are each exploring different sectors of the UK market including self build, private and social housing.
