The Carbon Trust last month took over the management of the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Coinciding with this, a number of new initiatives have been launched including the expansion of the Energy Technology List and a marketing programme created to help manufacturers, suppliers and purchasers promote and identify qualifying equipment.

The list details the range of energy-saving products and technologies that can qualify for 100% first year allowances under the ECA scheme.

As of 5 August the list of qualifying equipment was expanded from boilers, pipe insulation, thermal screens, combined heat and power, lighting, motors, variable speed drives and refrigeration equipment, to include heat pumps for space heating, warm air and radiant heaters, solar thermal systems, and compressed air equipment.

To help promote qualifying products and technologies a new Energy Technology List symbol has been developed which companies can use to demonstrate that their product is independently endorsed and can benefit from the environmental and fiscal advantages associated with the ECA scheme.

In addition, the ECA website, www.eca.gov.uk, has been relaunched with an online exhibition to help the end-user find suitable products and technologies on the Energy Technology List.
