Care fully planned: The proposal for this £2m health and social care centre in Salford was released last week Thursday.

The centre, in the New Deal for Communities area of the town, will provide a doctor's surgery, pharmacy and services for carers.

The centre, to be built by ExcellCare with Salford council and primary care trust, will be funded through a local improvement finance trust – a form of private finance initiative. It will open in September next year.
