Contractors
Building contractor Piper Construction Midlands has appointed Harold Bould, previously with Mansell Construction, construction manager.

McNicholas Group has appointed Owen Polland, formerly with Inveresk, group finance director based in the head office in Elstree.

Russell McAlister has joined chartered building firm Stoneform as design-and-build manager. Andrew Dickinson has been appointed project manager.

Ray Smithson, previously of Galliford Northern, and Kam Birdee, formerly of Meller, have been appointed business development managers of Willmott Dixon Construction, based in Leeds and Birmingham respectively.

Consultants
Neil Sangster has joined multidisciplinary consultant Watts and Partners' Bristol office as an associate. He will be responsible for the health and safety division.

Architectural and design practice Benoy has made the following promotions. James Utting, Robert Bishop and Russell Gay have been promoted to directors. Mike Lewis and Mike MacCormack become senior associate directors. Neil Johnson has been promoted to operations manager. Tom Gent and Jason Clarke have been promoted to associate directors. Peter McCaffery joins the Hong Kong office as associate director and Valerie Jenkins has been appointed to head up the marketing team.

John Hassell has been appointed contracts manager for office design and refurbishment specialist The Design Group, based in Sheffield.

Martin Barnes has been appointed president of the Association for Project Management. Barnes succeeds Tony Ridley, who is standing down after three years as president.
