Jørgen Philip-Sørensen, chairman and major shareholder at security services provider Group 4 Falck, has been awarded a CBE by Her Majesty the Queen for services to the security industry.
A life-long campaigner for regulation in the industry and a founding member of the British Security Industry Association, Philip-Sørensen told SMT: "I am very proud to be honoured in this way by the Queen. I gratefully accept my CBE on behalf of the thousands of people I have worked with at Group 4, and in the 'security industry family' at large." Philip-Sørensen added: "The British security industry is a major employer of people that provide an essential service to both the private and public sectors alike. I have been privileged to play a role in developing standards and improving both the quality and range of services which the industry delivers to its clients." Group 4 is currently ranked the second largest security company worldwide by turnover, with Swedish concern Securitas at the top of the tree.
