Passive transceiver

Network Video Technologies has released a new passive transceiver product, the NV-208A-M. NVT says it provides greater installation flexibility, allowing faster installations via the use of its 'direct to camera' or 'direct to DVR' male BNC and screwless 'press to fit' UTP cable terminal block connectivity.

"Reducing the cost for NVT passive-to-passive UTP video transmission applications (up to 225m), the NV-208A-M allows the many benefits offered by NVT over UTP cable to be applied to any static, PTZ, or dome camera," NVT says.

"It incorporates improved transient protection whilst eliminating the need for a ground connection, with further installation flexibility achieved by the transceiver not requiring a power supply."

eXguard goes PRO

TDSi has launched a new version of its eXguard PRO access control software, which comes as a package with multiple applications. The expansions include support for DVRs from major manufacturers such as Vista, Panasonic, and Bosch for full integration of CCTV and access control systems.

"Using the 'ATM tagging' feature of the DVR, eXguard PRO can store text relating to selected access events against a recording," TDSi says. "This allows later replay of the recordings relating to events from within the eXguard PRO application without the need for searching. With the use of "tagging" the amount of required storage within the DVR can be reduced, as only recordings for access events need to be kept. No continuous recording is required."

Ergonomic monitors

Bosch Security Systems has introduced two additions to its popular line of flat-panel colour LCD monitors: the 15-inch MON150CL and the 17-inch MON170CL. The state-of-the-art monitors feature ergonomic, compact, and aesthetically pleasing design, Bosch says.

Each monitor features inputs for composite video, audio, and Y/C - and an analogue VGA input to accommodate the increasing use of PCs and digital video devices in security applications. "Adjusting display parameters is easy with the user-friendly on-screen menus (available in several languages) and front-panel controls," the company says. "Thanks to their LCD technology the monitors consume 50 per cent less power than conventional CRT monitors.

"Their versatile design allows the monitors to automatically accept PAL and NTSC signal formats, and power supply voltages from 100 to 240v AC. The units can be viewed in a variety of positions because of their wide range of viewing angles: 120 degrees horizontal and 100 degrees vertical for the MON150CL and 140 degrees horizontal and 130 degrees vertical for the MON170CL."

Alarms Watch out, it's Rokonet

Rokonet has launched a new outdoor detector series, WatchOut. The company says it is the first of its kind to include four detection channels – two microwave and two PIR channels. "This effectively solves the pressing issue of high false alarm rates from outdoor volumetric detectors," Rokonet says. "WatchOut exercises Selective Event Recognition to distinguish between false alarms and real intrusion events. This is enabled by Digital Correlation Technology, which compares the signals of the two PIR channels that only targets creating a similar and correlated signal in both channels triggers and alarm; and Sway Recognition Technology which uses two microwave channels for recognising and excluding swaying objects such as bushes or tree limbs."
