Tag company has finalised the installation of its Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems across the entire Woolworths estate, in turn marking a major milestone in the five-year exclusive agreement between the two companies.
Over the past 18 months, fully-integrated retail tagging solutions have gradually been adopted in all 821 Woolworths’ outlets across the UK, thereby protecting a wide range of merchandise from potential theft. In addition to the 20,000 EAS elements installed by the TAG Company, over 8,000 sensors and data logging units will wirelessly collect, collate and transmit information around each store. That provides every site manager with valuable information on footfall and alarm frequency.
In parallel with the estate-wide roll-out, Woolworths is also benefiting from the expertise of TAG Company in tagging clothing, CDs, DVDs, toys and games. In addition to providing tagging solutions in-store, the solutions provider is also responsible for managing the famous High Street retailer’s source tagging programme, whereby security labels are applied to goods at the point of manufacture or distribution. That alone involves the management of over 6,000 product lines.
“EAS has moved on from being a loss prevention tool to one that demands to be embraced by all elements of the retail community,” said Matt Jackson, Woolworths’ head of stores.
