The 2006 Building Services Awards took their theme from the World Cup, naming their own champions' league: here's the winning line-up
Champions from the world of building
services were out in force for the building services industry's World Cup - otherwise known as the Building Services Awards. And with the final stages of football's world cup well under way, this year's glittering ceremony at the Great Room in London's Grosvenor Hotel had an international football theme.
The evening was hosted by comedian, film star and TV personality Rob Brydon who was joined on stage later on in the evening by football stars from yesteryear including Pat Jennings and Frank McLintock.
But the real stars of the ninth Building Service Awards were the winners who walked away with a trophy. This year's winning teams included King Shaw Associates, Balfour Kilpatrick, Kier Building Services and WSP Building, with the Best Practice award going to Hoare Lea in acknowledgement for their commitment to training and to the broader construction industry. The awards also recognised some inspiring new projects, including the National Assembly for Wales, The Core at the Eden Project and the Royal Bank of Scotland's Edinburgh headquarters.
Next year's ceremony promises to be even more spectacular as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Building Services Awards. For your chance to take part in the industry event of the year, keep an eye open for the 2007 entry forms in BSj later this year.
