Chesterfield council has rehoused rowdy tenants after deciding the housing association that managed their block was unable to cope with the spiralling level of antisocial behaviour.
Edinburgh Court, a 14-flat block, belongs to the council but is let on a long lease to Northern Counties Housing Association.

For the past 10 years, Enable Housing Association has managed the flats, on behalf of NCHA, as a housing scheme for young people.

The council intervened after an increase in complaints about noise and drug-taking at the flats.

Meetings have been scheduled between the council and the housing associations to decide on the property's future.

A council spokesperson said no option would be ruled out, including demolition and clearance.

A spokesperson for NCHA confirmed that although the building was empty, the lease was still being paid.
