Albert kennedy fell to his death in 1989 trying to escape homophobic attackers. he was 16 and had run away from home. the trust that bears his name works to help other gay teenagers in desperate situations. and it needs your money

This Christmas, Housing Today is supporting a charity that works with some of the most vulnerable young people in Britain.

The Albert Kennedy Trust helps to find housing for homeless gay teenagers, and runs a specialist counselling service that they can turn to for advice or just a sympathetic ear.

Lesbian, gay and bisexual people often suffer terrible prejudice, and teenagers are particularly vulnerable. But many feel unable to turn to their families and, with little specialist support, they can end up on the streets. The Department of Health has also highlighted the fact that young gay people are at an increased risk of suicide.

This is where the Albert Kennedy Trust steps in. By training gay adults to be guardians and counsellors, it gives these teenagers a stable environment where they can grow into confident young people.

Since it was founded in 1989, the trust has placed more than 100 teenagers in supportive homes and more than 450 have benefited from its mentoring and support services.

All the money raised through Housing Today’s appeal will go directly to support this valuable work. With your help, the trust can save many more young people from ending up on the streets this Christmas.
