If you are a graduate member of CIBSE, you will receive The CIBSE Graduate Professional Development Guide in 2006.

The guide has been developed to provide graduates with detailed information about how to achieve corporate membership and ECUK Registration in the shortest possible time.

As well as taking new graduates through the process of understanding the CIBSE competences, putting together an engineering practice report and preparing for interview, the guide also includes key articles on core issues in professional practice, such as quality assurance, standardisation, saustainability and ethics. More practical support is given in the extensive range of links to websites and companies in the UK and internationally, providing portals to information sources for technical, professional and personal development.

The guide takes the form of a 128kB memory stick, meaning that personal data can be generated, stored and accessed alongside the CIBSE information.

While Engineering Council rules are in some ways more flexible than in the past, most young engineers can still expect to spend at least three or four years post-graduation before their professional review interview to become a chartered or incorporated engineer.

Graduate members will receive free copies of the memory stick on payment of their 2006 subscription. Other CIBSE members can purchase copies for £15 each. It is available to non-members at £55 each.
