CIBSE Rethinking Construction champion Don Leeper has devised a plan of action for the services profession.
The CIBSE Council has endorsed proposals which could see Institution polices and programmes closer to those of the Movement for Innovation (M4I).

Specific aims include a statement of values in the Institution's strategic plan, a review of the Code of Professional Conduct and a commitment to the values of the M4I in the CIBSE's Consultants' Register.

Other proposals include focussing the activities of the CIBSE Regions on the Rethinking Construction agenda and the development of a best practice programme to support the construction policies proposed in Sir John Egan's report.

"I cannot emphasise more the role of individual members in this process" said Leeper following the Council meeting. "If Rethinking Construction is to move from good theory to firm practice, it will only do so if individuals decide they will live by the values which so many members of the Institution already recognise as being the only way of achieving a vibrant and successful profession".

A longer report on Don Leeper's proposals will appear in the February issue of BSJ.
