City & Guilds has appointed NICEIC Group as its lead consultant for the future development of its electrotechnical qualifications.
NICEIC Group has been working alongside City & Guilds to create a new suite of qualifications for the electrical contracting industry. NICEIC has played a key role, along other industry bodies, in shaping these qualifications to ensure they are relevant, up-to-date and practical.
“I believe our work with City & Guilds will greatly benefit the electrical industry now and in the future,” says NICEIC chief executive Jim Speirs. “Our organisation is keen to ensure that industry qualifications are fit for purpose, not just for our 24 000 contractors, but for the industry as a whole. We are pleased to give City & Guilds our extensive technical backing and support.”
The new portfolio of qualifications, to replace City & Guilds 2381 and 2391 are as follows:
• certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS7671: January 2008) 2382-10
• certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations Update (BS7671: January 2008) 2382-20
• certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification 2392-10
• certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations 2392-20
• certificate in Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations 2392-30.
