Richard Clark, chief executive of Prime Focus, seems set to become the new chair of the National Housing Federation.
Clark is understood to be the only candidate to have come forward by this week's Wednesday deadline. According to the NHF's constitutional rules, he should be elected unopposed at its national council meeting on 9 October.

A spokesperson for the NHF said it would be inappropriate to comment "before the election process had its course."

Clark would succeed Richard McCarthy, the out-going chief executive of the Peabody Trust, who has been recruited by the ODPM to lead its work on implementing the Communities Plan.

Clark has been heavily involved in developing the agenda behind the NHF's campaign to re-brand social housing. He has chaired the Housing's Better Future local focus group, one of four committees that have helped decide on the project's direction.
