CLEAR AWAY: Part of Liverpool’s Kensington district went up in a cloud of dust at the weekend when Controlled Demolition Group blew down a 22-storey block.

The tower block in Kenley Close was razed to the ground as part of a £500,000 demolition contract for a regeneration project, backed by Liverpool Action Housing Trust and CDS Housing. It paves the way for CDS Housing to build new low-cost, low-rise homes for local people on the Sheil Park estate.

The area’s remaining tower block is expected to be blown down this year.
