Southampton contractor installs intelligent lighting system as part of infant school reconstruction after bad fire

Reavey and Son Electrical of Southampton is giving pupils at Pinewood Infants School a bright start by installing intelligent lighting.

When the school, in Farnborough, Hampshire, was all but destroyed by fire, Hampshire County Council appointed Ridi to provide a comprehensive lighting system, in order to help the refurbished building achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘excellent’.

Reavey and Son fitted a selection of suspended and recessed Ridi luminaires, alongside Ridi’s intelligent lighting control systems.

In the all-important classroom areas, Ridi’s F-Line suspended luminaires were used in conjunction with downlighters that were set into the bulkheads.

Dimmable electronic ballasts drive twin T5 lamps, linked to a flexible dimmable control system. The luminaires were supplied with a matt-anodised aluminium micro-louvre so that a good balance between direct and indirect lighting could be achieved.

Following the fire, the F-Line’s integral three-hour maintained emergency system was also introduced as an essential feature within the school.
