The £305 million development to rationalise the healthcare facilities at Whiston, St Helens and Newton will benefit from the principles of collaborative working promoted by Avanti.

The design team led by Taylor Woodrow and including NG Bailey, Capita Symonds, Ove Arup Partners and RW Gregory has agreed that the design supply chain will adopt ICT-enabled collaborative working procedures. Avanti will be working with Taylor Woodrow and St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust on the project – the second of the programme’s core projects.

The principle of the Avanti programme is to ensure collaborative working through the sharing of electronic data and co-ordinated design. The team on this project is experienced with ICT-enabled working using extranets to share information. It will receive training to use the collaborative tools and processes for more effective use of 2D and 3D computer aided design and object modelling in a common data environment.
