Ten more communities that have been hit by closures of coalmines are to receive help from English Partnerships.
Housing minister Lord Rooker said that the agency had made good use of its £385m budget in other schemes.

He said: " The regeneration of areas that have been blighted by pit closures is essential to the economy and wellbeing of the community [and] a sustainable future for these areas."

The national coalfields programme aims to create 6500 homes across 4000 acres and 98 former collieries.
