Smoke control and ventilation specialist Colt International has launched a spin-off company aimed at the fan coil and air handling market.
Colt Airhandling was launched 18 months after the new product portfolio was developed within the main Colt Group. It already has £3 million on its order books.

The market for traditional air handling units has bucked the trend, and the technology still accounts for over 40% of the UK market for central plant air conditioning. Demand for fan coils is high as they are suited to refurbishment projects. BSRIA estimates that the market is worth £40 million, and will continue to grow.

Colt AH managing director, Peter Delve says: "The customer base for air handling units is subtly different from Colt's core business. We will concentrate on mechanical consultants and specialist contractors."
