Mike Clapser, chief executive of BAA, and transport secretary Alistair Darling attempt a bit of hard work as they perform the topping out ceremony at Heathrow’s Terminal 5. The event marked the completion of the structure of the £4.2bn project. A team of around 6500 workers have transformed an old sludge works into a striking glass facade ready to be fitted out for passengers. The structure was delivered on time and to budget. T5 will open its doors in March 2008
