The abolition of the annual £550m local authority social housing grant will result in other key areas of government investment boosted instead.
Without axing the LASHG, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister would have been left with little room to manoeuvre in putting together the £22bn Communities Plan.

In total, £197m has been provided for the Housing Corporation’s approved development programme, including a £100m boost the Challenge Fund.
