Work is nearing completion ON the £8m refurbishment of 236 homes in Albany, Sunderland, by Connaught Property Services.
The work is part of a partnership that will see Connaught complete £28m of refurbishments on 3000 properties for Sunderland Housing Group over five years.

Peter Jones, regional director for Connaught, said the deal allowed the firm to concentrate on providing services, rather than having to re-tender for every new bit of work.

He said: "Our tenants are reaping the benefits in terms of improved customer service and a speeding-up of the whole process."

He said it had also helped the local community by providing jobs and work for local suppliers.

As part of upgrades to its stock, Sunderland Housing Group is also demolishing 6000 low-demand council houses and replacing them with 4000 new-build homes at a cost of £250m.
