According to the DTI, construction orders in the 12 months to January 2002 were unchanged compared to those in the previous twelve months.
Orders in the three months to January 2002 fell by 2% compared to the same three months a year earlier, and in comparison to the three months up to January 2002 they fell by 11%.

The drop in business has been put down to low orders throughout December in the infrastructure and private commercial sectors.
