BuildOnline has made 18 of its UK staff redundant.
The portal, which was the first to launch in the UK in January last year, made the changes in preparation for its third round of funding.

A spokeswoman for BuildOnline said: "The main focus of the rationalisation was to cut back on corporate development and marketing. BuildOnline is maintaining the strength of its sales, customer service and technology teams." Construction Computing columnist David McAll said there was no reason to believe that a dotcom crash was about to hit the construction portals market. The job cuts are "sensible management by BuildOnline in looking for its next round of funding," he said.
