The number of complaints against the Housing Corporation has almost doubled in the last year, it was revealed this week.
The annual report by the Independent Complaints Reviewer for the Housing Corporation said 29 complaints had been received in 2002-03, compared with 16 for the previous year.

Despite the rise, the reviewer acknowledged that the number of complaints recorded remained “very low indeed when one considers the large volume of work processed each year”.

The ICR reviewed six of the complaints submitted against the corporation, only two of which were upheld.

“It is fair to say that final responses to complaints that we have seen usually demonstrate considerable care and attention on the part of the senior officers involved,” the ICR’s report added.

The corporation is reviewing its procedures to ensure that they meet customer needs.
