The Housing Corporation has created two jobs to bolster its efforts to deliver the Communities Plan.
Derek Long will become head of operations for the market renewal pathfinder initiative. He will coordinate investment and work with housing associations in the nine pathfinder areas.

Long is currently on secondment from the corporation at the ODPM, developing policy on low demand.

He said: "My job will be to make sure our processes and policies are flexible enough to meet the new challenges in the renewal areas."

Paul Powici has been appointed to the other new post, head of operations for the Thames Gateway.

Powici, currently in charge of the corporation's input to the Housing Partnership, will coordinate and report on investment in the area – one of the housing growth areas.
