The Engineering Council's prestigious Environment Award for Engineers 2001 has acknowledged the work of three building services companies.
Under the category of Engineering Alternatives the overall winner was Ove Arup & Partners for its work in developing a unique passive cooling and heating system at the Harare International School in Zimbabwe.

The runner-up prize went to First Renewables, for its arable biomass renewable energy project. The Council also highly commended Solar Century for a project installing solar photovoltaic slates on a new housing development.
