A new sustainable, low energy building will provide the headquarters for North Wiltshire District Council. The council's 300 staff will move into the purpose-built space in Monkton Park from five offices in Chippenham town centre.
The building won an Excellent rating under BREEAM and is the first government project of its kind in England. Part of the BREEAM rating was down to the energy efficient lighting system, which provides a typical load at full output of 12 W/m2.

The lighting system uses customised luminaires from Thorn Lighting to provide direct and indirect lighting. It incorporates 14-35 W T5 lamps operated by fully dimmable, digital, high frequency control gear from Tridonic.atco. Bus-wire technology is used to provide a central control system for the lighting as well as enabling monitoring, testing and fault-finding for all the emergency lighting luminaires.
