Five councils and three housing associations are celebrating the success of their choice-based lettings scheme in West London.
The pilot, funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, has had more than 22,000 applications for just over 600 available homes, including traditionally hard-to-let properties.

Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow councils, along with the Paradigm group, Ealing Family and Paddington Churches housing associations have set up a joint venture company, Locata, to run the initiative.

Locata produces a free newsletter advertising available homes, and tenants can bid for them by returning coupons or by using the internet.
