Recent research by Davis Langdon is being used by a trade association to promote the use of copper in roofing. As shown by the graph, although it costs more at the outset, copper beats all other metals except stainless steel in a 60-year cost analysis. It beats tiles and slate, too, according to the research, commissioned by Copper in Architecture. The research also revealed that an increase in roofing cost of £1m/m2 adds only about 0.1% to overall building cost. For more information, visit www.cda.org.uk/arch, www.copperconcept.org
