Consultant Davis Langdon saw a major jump in its project management activities in the last year. Turnover for the PM division for the year to 30 April leapt by a third to £23.3m. This was still dwarfed by the firm's costs management operations which stood at £75m for the period.

Overall the firm's turnover grew by 15% to £121.9m, while profits were up by a third to £32.2m for the period. Senior partner Rob Smith earned £544,000 for the year.

In his introduction to the firm's annual review, published last week, Smith said he saw the firm's service offering expanding into programme management. He said the company was in "incredibly good heart" and was focused internally on developing and nurturing new talent as well as creating a carbon index to help clients think more deeply about sustainability.
