Deck access homes on the Central Oakridge Estate in Basingstoke, Hampshire are being cleared to make way for a mixed development of 294 innovative steel-frame homes designed by HTA Architects.
Shops, a park, community centre and church will be built at the heart of the redevelopment with 54 apartments and 84 houses for sale, and 51 apartments and 104 homes for rent. The steel-frame homes constructed by Forge Llewellyn for Oakfern HA comprise a series of adaptable housetypes and contain a range of sustainable features. "The innovative construction will include prefabricated bathroom pods, rainwater harvesting, passive stack ventilation and insulation to achieve U values of 0.21," said HTA design director, Ben Derbyshire. The homes are designed with changing needs in mind, having open loft spaces and clear floor spans between party walls. Homes for sale and rent will be pepperpotted across the development and indistinguishable from one another.
