Sodexho Defence Services has won a £7m, five-year multi-service contract for more than 20 army sites in the north-west of England.
The catering company will now be responsible for services previously carried out under 65 separate contracts.

It will perform catering, cleaning, waste disposal and all other housekeeping services.

Sodexho clinched the deal ahead of five other companies that tendered: Aramark, Eurest, Bourne Catering, Mitie Catering and MacLellan, a company spokesperson said.

In addition, Sodexho has also landed five other contracts worth a total of around £1.5m a year.

These include the maintenance of 2,000 military houses nationwide for the Defence Housing Executive.

Sodexho will also maintain the grounds at RAF Markham, Kings Lynn and 20 fire stations and training sites for the Royal Berkshire Fire Brigade.

The company has also successfully bid to run Rolls Royce's HQ leisure centre and Foxbury Conference Centre in Kent, where it already operates a contract.

Sodexho will take on an additional contract for building support services.
