Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will be joined by three new ministers at The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs following Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s October 3 reshuffle.

Phil Hunt is minister for sustainable development, climate change adaptation and air quality, Jane Kennedy will be minister for farming and the environment and Huw Irranca-Davies joins as minister for the natural and marine environment, wildlife and rural affairs.

Hunt joins the department from the Ministry of Justice, his responsibilities include: sustainable development, domestic climate change adaptation, local and regional government air quality and noise and environmental regulation.

Kennedy joins DEFRA from the Treasury. Her new responsibilities include: Waste and recycling, the Environment Agency, water, Flooding and the Sustainable Development Commission.

Irranca-Davies was previously in the Wales office portfolio now includes rural affairs and fisheries.
