Air conditioning and engineering supplier Denco has acquired Amec's mobile services operation for an undisclosed sum.
It is only a year since Denco completed its own management buy-out from Amec. The Amec mobile services subsidiary recorded a turnover of £9 million last year.
Denco managing director Mark Shutler says: "In one way we are reclaiming our own. In 1998 our services arm was merged with Amec's and now we have taken it back again. The difference is now it is substantially bigger and includes their mobile services people"
As well as increasing Denco's technical staff numbers by almost 25%, the acquisition gives the company a greater nationwide service network based around four regional centres in Manchester, London, Hereford, and East Kilbride.
