Two brothers who are directors of Wembley Stadium electrical contractor CBL Cable Contractors have been accused of kidnapping a man in Hartlepool.
Andrew William Haygarth, 37 and Lee James Haygarth, 29 were initially refused bail at Hartlepool Magistrates Court and remanded in custody. However, on 12 January a judge at Teesside Crown Court granted bail at a surety of £50 000 for each brother. They were released on bail on condition that they do not contact witnesses, surrender their passports and report to the police three times a week.
CBL's contract at Wembley Stadium is believed to be worth around £10 million, with up to 200 operatives working on the project. It remains unclear whether the arrests will affect the work.
As well as the Haygarth brothers, Richard Ian Hughes, 34, Jamie Jon Jacobs, 18 and electrician Nigel Train, 37 have been charged, alongside a 15-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons.
