Doig and Smith has said work it carried out for the Royal Bank of Scotland helped it win a role on the redevelopment of Heathrow's Terminal 2.
Gordon McLintoch, commercial manager at Doig and Smith, said the firm's work on the completed £350m new Royal Bank of Scotland headquarters in Edinburgh "stood them in good stead" to be considered by BAA as contenders for the project.
The firm will provide early stage commercial advice for the new Heathrow East scheme and assess the various options available on the site.
Doig and Craig were approached by BAA to tender a bid after acting as framework consultants at several of its airports including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Heathrow and Gatwick. Applicants completed a formal enquiry comprising of a presentation, interview, and question and answer session all scored by BAA.
Mace and Laing O' Rourke are also on board to supply construction advice while Foster and Partners, Ove Arup & Partners and Hoare Lea & Partners will act as the respective architect, structural engineer and building services engineer.
McLintock said the team would work collaboratively on the project to produce a cost model and determine its financial viability. He highlighted the number of risks facing the project including its underground construction, existing structural work and the management of stakeholders.
"We have to be pro-active from the start and give good advice so we have an informed client that can make appropriate decisions in a timely manner to enable the project to move on," McLintock said.
