The BWF-Certifire Fire Door & Doorset Scheme has made the correct procedure for providing glazed apertures in 30 minute fire doors the focus of its latest Fact Card.
Essentially, the BWF-Certifire Fire Door & Doorset Scheme does not permit cutting apertures in a fire door on site. The glazing of factory pre-cut apertures must only be carried out by a fully trained installer, in accordance with the manfacturer’s instructions. The BWF recommends that this competent person should be certified under the Scheme or be registered and trained under the FIRAS installer Scheme.
