Downland Housing Group and the Affinity Homes Group are to merge on 1 April.
The two associations will form a new group, Downland Affinity. It will be one of the UK’s largest RSL groups with a predicted turnover of £100m and assets of £720m.

Downland Affinity will be the parent group to Broomleigh Housing Association, New Downland Housing Association, Affinity Trust, Southdown Housing Association, Downland Property Management and Downland Retirement Management.

The group will own and manage 30,000 homes in London and the South-east, including key worker and student accommodation.

Affinity’s chief executive Keith Exford will lead the new group. Downland chairman John Hooley will be group chairman, and Affinity chairman will be group vice-chairman.

Hooley said: “Our aim is for Downland Affinity to be a leader in the housing field, working with our six subsidiaries to provide a range of desirable homes in London and the South.”
