Dutch M&E and communications provider Imtech has bought the Nottingham-based electrical contractor Goodmarriott & Hursthouse for an undisclosed sum.
Trevor Hursthouse, owner and managing director of the business, said the acquisition would secure the firm’s long-term future and provide the opportunity for staff to develop outside the private owner environment.
“I see this as the opportunity to take Goodmarriott & Hursthouse to the next step in its development as a major player in the M&E sector,” he said.
Goodmarriott & Hursthouse is one of the UK’s oldest electrical engineering companies and employs more than 200 staff.
The firm is currently working on the new Arsenal Emirates stadium in north London, as well as on several sites in the Midlands and North-east England.
Goodmarriott & Hursthouse will retain its name and independence, despite its acquisition. It will operate alongside Imtech’s UK Meica Group, which works primarily in the South-east of England.
Imtech has operations in Spain, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, and Belgium, as well as the UK. Its annual turnover exceeds €2bn.
