Dutch m&e and communications giant Imtech has bought Nottingham-based contractor Goodmarriott and Hursthouse.
Imtech has paid approximately five times the operating profit (EBIT) of the £25 million turnover firm.
The acquisition is in line with Imtech’s strategy of further growth in the UK and follows the 2003 purchase of Meica, the £85 million turnover m&e firm which works primarily in the South-east of England. Imtech’s mid-term plan is to be among the top three m&e contractors in the UK within the next five years.
“I see this as the opportunity to take Goodmarriott and Hursthouse to the next step in its development towards becoming a major player in the electrical and mechanical building services sector,” said managing director Trevor Hursthouse.
Goodmariott and Hursthouse will continue to be run by the existing team and will retain its name and operate as a stand-alone business.
As well as its UK concerns, Imtech has operations in Spain, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Its annual turnover exceeds 2 billion euro.
