A merger of the Electrical Contractors Association and the Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association has moved a step closer after surveys showed members of both organisations are in favour.
The survey found that 81% of HVCA respondents, representing 20% of the membership, believe convergence would be broadly beneficial. Also, 84% support the formation of a joint ECA and HVCA convergence group. Around 57% of ECA respondents were in favour of developing a model for a single organisation.
The HVCA council has pledged its support for a model of a single organisation to represent mechanical and electrical contractors.
The council of the ECA will discuss the survey results when it meets on 23 April.
